Auto – Wooden Toy Cars and Creative Play
In the project Auto, I developed a series of unique wooden toy cars made from birch plywood and painted with natural watercolors, featuring a soft texture and gentle, pleasant colors. Each car is handcrafted with attention to detail and the natural warmth of the material, allowing children to feel the quality and tactile richness of the wood.
The uniqueness of the project lies in its interactivity: the cars are designed without wheels – children need to collect wheels in the form of recycled bottle caps and place them in the designated spots on the car in order for it to move. This activity creates a playful experience that develops fine motor skills, creative thinking, problem-solving, and an understanding of cause and effect.
The project connects working with natural materials with educational values of recycling and hands-on creativity. It invites children to actively participate in play, choose the wheels, experiment, and form a personal connection between the parts. In this way, the toy becomes a meaningful and educational experience, allowing children to enjoy the process of creation while exploring and manipulating objects with their hands.
Auto is not just a toy car; it is a tool that encourages curiosity, imagination, and collaboration, linking the material, creative, and environmental worlds in a playful and educational way.
